The long, slender stems filled with lavender flowers arise over many weeks (3
to 4 months isn't unheard of!), creating a vertical swathe of color that
combines well with the reds, oranges, and yellows of summer perennials. Be
sure to plant Little Spire where you will brush past it while going through
the garden -- the scent of the leaves is released by touch!
Just 24 inches tall and 20 to 24 inches wide, Little Spire's unusual foliage
color and cool lavender-blue blooms add a soothing note to the sunny midsummer
garden. It is superb in hot, humid areas if given good drainage around the
crown, and quite drought-tolerant once established in the garden. Zones 4-9.
