A rare orchid is flowering for the first time in Aberglasney Gardens in May
2007. The "Lady's Slipper Orchid" (Cypripedium parviflorum var. makasin) has
been grown from young plants in the Garden's greenhouse and six examples are
being planted out soon. A close relative is already in flower. The rare North
American "Slipper Orchid" Cypripedium parviflorum var. pubescens can be seen
along Bishop Rudd's Walk and is one of the highlights of the year at the
gardens.
