Very nice perennial with light green leaves sporting wide irregular creamy
yellow margins. Brunnera 'Hadspen Cream' blooms in early spring, sending up
dainty sprays of light purple flowers. This particualr variety seems to
tolerate dry soils better than any other Brunnera that we grow and in turn
tolerates full sun better. Stunning when planted in large groups of 7 or
more. Plant in parial shade to full sun in a soil that has been amended with organic
materials such as compost, peat and manure. Feed in early spring with a top
dressing of composted manure and bone meal. Liquid feed twice during the
growing season with fish emulsion. You will get fuller, tidier plants by
lightly pruning back the basal foliage in the spring and fall. Brunnera will
grow best if roots are kept cool - apply a three inch layer of mulch each
spring. |
