Ajuga Dixie Chip, Ajuga 'Dixie Chip' PPAF, has green, cream, and rose-purple
variegated foliage that will create a spectacular display for your garden when
planted in mass. In mid to late spring, violet blue flowers appear above the
low spreading foliage. 'Dixie Chip' PPAF is a petite variegated Ajuga which
was introduced by ItSaul Plants. It forms a tight habit making it useful for
erosion control on slopes and also as a weed suppressing ground cover for the
landscape. It is relatively carefree, however, it can be invasive. Ajuga
'Dixie Chip' will do best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun. It
prefers moist soil with a good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry
areas. Do avoid soggy conditions. This Ajuga looks great in rock gardens, as a
border plants, in mass plantings and is great for preventing erosion.
Butterflies and hummingbirds are defiantly attracted to Ajuga, not to mention
being deer resistant and a low allergen. If one is looking for a perennial
ground cover to exceed in a hard to grow shady area, Ajuga is the way to go. |
