Zone 5–8. 8–10' H × 10' W. This is one of eight magnolia cultivars introduced by The National Arboretum known as the de Vos and Kosar Hybrids after Dr. Francis de Vos, Arboretum Geneticist and William Kosar, Arboretum Horticulturist in 1965 after a ten-year breeding program known also as the Little Girl Magnolias; deep purple-red flowers, slightly earlier and more open than ‘Betty,’ upright and erect which is typical of these ‘Little Girl Magnolias.’ |
